Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 8, 2026
This Privacy Notice describes how EV Insurance Guide (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, protects, and retains information when you visit or interact with our website, evinsuranceguide.org, and related pages, tools, digital publications, downloadable materials, and services that link to this Privacy Notice (collectively, the “Site” or “Services”).
EV Insurance Guide provides educational information about electric vehicle insurance, vehicle insurance coverage, EV ownership, insurance costs, battery protection, insurance terminology, and related subjects.
Our Services currently include educational articles and guides, an interactive GAP coverage and quote-comparison tool available on our homepage, a downloadable free EV insurance guide, and a paid EV insurance handbook purchased through a third-party checkout provider.
We are not currently an insurance carrier, insurance company, insurance agency, or insurance broker. We do not sell insurance policies, underwrite insurance, determine insurance eligibility, process insurance applications, or provide binding insurance quotes.
Information published on the Site is for general educational purposes and should not be treated as individualized insurance, financial, legal, tax, or professional advice.
I. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with EV Insurance Guide. We seek to collect only information reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, improve, secure, and communicate about our Site and Services.
1. Information You Provide Directly
You may voluntarily provide information when you contact us, request assistance, download an educational resource, use our interactive tools, purchase our digital handbook through a third-party checkout provider, or otherwise communicate with us. Depending on the interaction, information may include your name, email address, message content, and other information you choose to provide.
You are not required to provide personal information simply to read most educational content on our Site, including our [EV insurance blog](/blog/).
2. Information Automatically Collected
When you visit our Site, certain information may be collected automatically through your browser, device, analytics services, cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies. This may include IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, approximate geographic location, referring website or page, pages viewed, links clicked, time spent on pages, interaction with tools, and date and time of visits. See [Google's explanation of Analytics data collection](https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/11593727?hl=en) for details on what Google Analytics may collect. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and, on some pages, images from Pexels, so your IP address and browser details are sent to those providers when a page loads.
3. Information From Third-Party Services
We may receive limited information from third-party services that support the Site. For example, if you purchase our paid handbook through a third-party checkout provider, that provider may process information necessary to complete the transaction and may provide us with limited transaction information associated with the purchase.
II. How We Use Information
Depending on how you interact with EV Insurance Guide, we may use information to operate and maintain the Site; deliver requested content and digital resources; provide interactive tools; respond to questions and support requests; diagnose technical problems; prevent abuse; protect security; analyze Site performance; improve articles and digital products; and measure marketing effectiveness.
Communications
If you contact us, we may use the information you provide to respond to your inquiry, provide customer support, or otherwise respond to the purpose for which you contacted us.
III. Cookies, Analytics, Pixels, and Similar Technologies
Like many websites, EV Insurance Guide may use cookies and similar technologies, including cookies, pixels, tags, and similar browser or device technologies, for website functionality, security, analytics, performance measurement, understanding visitor behavior, and advertising measurement.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, including Google Analytics 4 ("GA4"), to understand how visitors interact with our Site. See [Google Analytics privacy controls](https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9019185?hl=en) and [Google's Analytics policy requirements](https://developers.google.com/analytics/policy) for more information.
Meta Pixel
We use Meta Pixel to measure website activity and advertising performance. See [Meta's U.S. Regional Privacy Notice](https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policies/uso/) for information about Meta's processing practices. Depending on your location and applicable law, certain processing may constitute targeted advertising, sharing, or a similar regulated activity. We do not use the Meta Pixel to intentionally collect your insurance policy number, medical records, Social Security number, bank-account number, or credit-card number.
Managing Cookies
You may be able to control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect Site functionality.
Recently Read Guides
The blog may save the titles and links of up to eight recently read guides, along with a local visit time, in your browser's local storage so the reading-history feature can show them when you return. This history stays on your device and is not sent to EV Insurance Guide. You can clear it using the "Clear reading history" control on the blog or by removing this Site's stored data in your browser settings.
IV. Our Interactive Tools
EV Insurance Guide provides a loan-balance-vs-vehicle-value (GAP) estimator and a quote comparator, both available on our [homepage](/). These tools are intended for educational and estimation purposes. Amounts you enter are processed only in your own browser to generate the requested calculation — nothing you type into these tools is sent to us or stored.
Do not enter Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, bank account information, credit-card information, medical information, passwords, or other highly sensitive personal information into any tool on this Site.
Results are estimates and may not reflect an actual insurance company's premium, underwriting decision, coverage determination, vehicle valuation, or policy terms. A result generated by our tools is not an insurance quote, offer of insurance, binding coverage determination, or guarantee of savings.
V. Free Downloads, Communications, and Digital Publications
EV Insurance Guide makes educational materials available for download, including our [free EV insurance guide](/free-guide.html). Where we request an email address to provide a resource, that information will be used for the purposes disclosed at the time of collection and for related communications where permitted by applicable law.
When you request our free guide, the first name and email address you enter are sent from your browser to a Google Apps Script that records them in a Google Sheet we control. Google acts as a service provider for this purpose. We use this information to record your request and to contact you about the guide and related EV Insurance Guide resources.
We may also use contact information to send educational communications, updates, or information about EV Insurance Guide products where permitted and where appropriate consent has been obtained. You may unsubscribe from promotional email communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in the communication where one is provided, or by emailing support@evinsuranceguide.org with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line. We will remove your details from our list.
VI. Paid Handbook and Third-Party Checkout
EV Insurance Guide offers a paid digital handbook. Payments are processed through a third-party checkout provider, Gumroad. EV Insurance Guide does not directly process or store your full credit-card or bank-account information on its own website.
When you purchase through Gumroad's checkout page, the transaction is subject to Gumroad's own terms and privacy practices. See [Gumroad's Privacy Policy](https://gumroad.com/privacy) for details on how Gumroad processes your information.
We may receive limited information associated with a completed purchase, such as information necessary to identify the transaction, fulfill the digital product, provide customer support, or maintain appropriate business records.
VII. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information to insurance companies, insurance carriers, insurance agents, or brokers. We do not currently have insurance-carrier partners to whom we transfer visitor information for insurance quoting or underwriting.
Service Providers
We may use third-party providers that help us operate the Site, including website hosting, analytics, security, email delivery, digital product delivery, and advertising measurement. Providers we currently use include Cloudflare (website hosting, security, and email forwarding), Google (Analytics, Fonts, and Google Sheets/Apps Script for free-guide requests), Meta (Meta Pixel), and Gumroad (checkout for the paid handbook). Images on some pages are loaded from Pexels.
Legal and Safety Reasons
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, protect our rights, protect safety and security, investigate fraud or abuse, or protect the Site and its users.
Business Transfers
If EV Insurance Guide is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
VIII. Advertising and Marketing Technologies
EV Insurance Guide may use advertising and marketing technologies, including Google and Meta products, to measure campaigns and understand visitor behavior. Some jurisdictions define certain forms of targeted advertising as a regulated use of personal information.
We do not sell personal information for money. However, depending on the technology used and the law applicable to you, certain advertising-related processing may legally be characterized as "sharing," "targeted advertising," or a similar regulated activity. Where applicable law gives you the right to opt out, you may exercise that right using the methods described in this Privacy Notice.
See [YourAdChoices consumer controls](https://youradchoices.com/control), provided by the Digital Advertising Alliance, for additional advertising-choice tools.
IX. Information We Do Not Collect or Sell
EV Insurance Guide is designed to minimize the amount of personal information necessary to use the Site. We do not intentionally collect medical records, health insurance records, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, bank-account passwords, full credit-card numbers, insurance policy login credentials, biometric information, or other highly sensitive information, unless you voluntarily provide it to us. Please do not send sensitive information unless reasonably necessary for your request.
We do not sell personal information to insurance carriers, insurance companies, agents, brokers, or other businesses.
X. How We Protect Information
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or destruction. Safeguards may include secure website connections, access controls, vendor security measures, and reasonable data minimization practices.
No internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
XI. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice, including to provide requested Services, maintain business records, respond to support requests, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and prevent fraud or abuse. The precise retention period may vary depending on the type of information and applicable legal requirements. First names and email addresses submitted for the free guide are kept until you ask us to remove them or until we no longer need them for the purposes described above.
XII. International Visitors
EV Insurance Guide is accessible internationally, although a substantial portion of our audience is expected to be located in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country of residence.
XIII. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us (see Section XXI).
XIV. Third-Party Websites and Services
Our Site may contain links to third-party websites and services, including insurance-related resources, government websites, payment platforms, analytics providers, and advertising platforms. When you click a third-party link or leave our Site, that third party's privacy policy and practices govern your interaction with them. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices, security, content, or policies of third-party websites.
XV. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and whether applicable privacy law applies to EV Insurance Guide, you may have rights concerning your personal information. These may include rights to know, access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of certain personal information, opt out of sale or certain targeted advertising/sharing, withdraw consent, object to certain processing, and receive non-discriminatory treatment for exercising applicable rights. Not every right is available in every jurisdiction, and legal exceptions may apply.
To submit a privacy request, contact us (see Section XXI). We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
XVI. California Residents
California residents may have privacy rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA"), depending on whether the law applies and the circumstances. See the [California Privacy Protection Agency](https://cppa.ca.gov/faq) for more information on California consumer privacy rights.
Depending on applicable law, California residents may have rights including the right to know, access, correct, delete, opt out of sale, opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and receive non-discriminatory treatment for exercising applicable rights. EV Insurance Guide does not sell personal information for monetary consideration; however, certain uses of advertising and tracking technologies may be characterized under California law as "sharing" depending on the circumstances.

XIX. Do-Not-Track Signals and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers and devices provide privacy preference signals such as Global Privacy Control ("GPC") intended to communicate a user's privacy choices. Where required by applicable law, EV Insurance Guide will process recognized privacy signals in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Traditional browser "Do Not Track" signals are not universally standardized; our treatment of such signals may depend on the technology, browser, and applicable law.
